Broadband & Business Broadband Services

There are a number of different options for your businesses broadband connection depending on your location and budget. Our advisors will talk you through what is available in your area, the likely speeds and costs involved.

Due to the fact we provide voice services that rely on broadband, we have some very special optional extra's available on our connections, giving us the edge where the competition is concerned:

> ANNEX M Bolt on ADSL2+ increases upstream by reducing downstream capacity

> Prioritised voice (useful for small businesses wanting to run voice and data together)

> Prioritised voice with bandwidth management (500kb reserved for VoIP - next step up)

> A package offering unrestricted, unprioritised, All You Can Eat data allowance

> Pure VoIP traffic, no other traffic allowed

Broadband & Business Broadband Services

We offer all of the following services:

FTTC - Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) involves running fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange to the street cabinets which then connect to a PSTN (analogue) phone line to provide broadband.

This is combined with traditional copper cable from the cabinet to the business which uses VDSL or similar technology that can deliver much faster speeds over shorter distances.

ADSL - (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is the technology that has been developed to transmit a fast broadband signal over old copper BT phone lines.

ADSL2+ - is a second generation broadband service that uses new technology to offer faster connections. It currently provides download speeds of up to 24Mb; however this depends on the internet service provider and broadband package chosen.

SDSL - (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is basically the same as a standard internet connection but offers fast uploads as well as download speeds. Download speeds will be the same as upload speeds; typically there will be a lower contention ratio with these products (shared between fewer users). Speeds depend on ISP packages.

LLU - (Local Loop Unbundled) is not a type of technology, but rather describes the de-regulation of the former BT exchange network which allows 3rd party access to the last mile of copper wiring to a broadband users business. Typically this service includes line rental.

3G Mobile Broadband - Various packages are available from the UK’s major networks with speeds of up to 7Mb being claimed possible. We recommend this as a backup for businesses or for users who travel on a regular basis.

EFM - (Ethernet First Mile) uses bundles of copper wires to cut costs while still delivering a dedicated line with speeds of up to 10Mb. EMF can be as much as 65% cheaper than a traditional leased line, depending on your local exchange. EMF lines are available at speeds of 2Mb, 4Mb, 6Mb, 8Mb or 10Mb, subject to survey with a price available on application.

Leased line/Private circuit/MPLS - Various options available, if you require something with more bandwidth for single or multiple sites, just ask and we will talk you through the options for your location/requirements.  Our monthly rental prices can include, installation and setup costs which are spread over the term of the contract if required.

Bonded Service - This is where two ADSL services are bonded together by a single hi-tech router.

Routers - Wires only or managed services are available, in most cases we recommend a router upgrade however this is decided on a case by case basis depending on your businesses current setup.

Static ip address - Fixed addresses on the internet are available as an add on to all of our broadband services on offer.

*All broadband speeds vary and depend on the chosen ISP, line quality and distance from the exchange amongst many other factors.
